Brake pads are a component of disc brakes used in automotive. Brake pads are steel backing plates with friction material bound to the surface that faces the disc brake rotor. Brake pads convert the kinetic energy of the car to thermal energy by friction. Two brake pads are contained in the brake caliper with their friction surfaces facing the rotor. When the brakes are hydraulically applied, the caliper clamps the two pads together into the spinning rotor to slow/stop the vehicle. When a brake pad is heated by contact with a rotor, it transfers small amounts of friction material to the disc, turning it dull gray.

“C.V.Joints” are one of the most important components of a drive axle and used to transfer a uniform torque at a constant speed while operating through a wide range of angles.

Drive Shaft  is mechanism that transfer engine torque from the transaxle differential to the wheels. The basic FWD and RWD driveline consists of two drive shafts while 4WD drive line has four. The shafts extend out from each side of the differential to supply power to the drive wheels.

The brake disc is the component of a disc brake against which the brake pads are applied. The material is typically grey iron, a form of cast iron. The design of the disc varies somewhat. Some are simply solid, but others are hollowed out with fins or vanes joining together the disc’s two contact surfaces (usually included as part of a casting process). The weight and power of the vehicle determines the need for ventilated discs and its “ventilated” disc design helps to dissipate the generated heat.

A brake shoe is the part of a braking system which carries the brake lining in the drum brakes used on automobiles. The brake shoe carries the brake lining, which is riveted or glued to the shoe. When the brake is applied, the shoe moves and presses the lining against the inside of the drum. The friction between lining and drum provides the braking effort. Energy is dissipated as heat.

The wheel hub assembly is located between the brake drums or discs and the drive axle.    A wheel is bolted on it. Depending on the construction, the end of hub comes equipped with the splined teeth. They mate the teeth on the axle shaft. The axle hub spins along with the wheels bolted to it and provide the power to the wheels in order to rotate.
